Nokia 8800 Sirocco Edition

The 8800 Sirocco Edition, released in 2006, was a reworked version of Nokia's stainless steel luxury slider, the 8800. Its slide ran on ball bearings that Nokia said came from the makers of bearings used in high-performance cars. The Sirocco came in gold and "queen black" finishes, with a 2 megapixel camera and a bigger battery than the original. Its ringtones and sounds were composed by Brian Eno, the ambient music pioneer who also wrote the Windows 95 startup sound. In 2007 ten Siroccos signed by Eno were auctioned for charity. A 24ct gold-plated version followed in early 2007 with a recommended price of 2,049 US dollars. The Sirocco name lived on when HMD used it for the Nokia 8 Sirocco in 2018.
