Sony Ericsson T68i

The T68 started life in 2001 as an Ericsson, and it was the first Ericsson phone with a colour screen: a 101 x 80 STN display showing 256 colours. In 2002, after Ericsson and Sony had joined forces, it came back as the Sony Ericsson T68i. The hardware stayed the same, but a cosmetic refresh and new software added an e-mail client, SyncML and two-way MMS with full SMIL support. Its 84 g body packed tri-band GSM, GPRS, Bluetooth, infrared and a small joystick. There was no built-in camera; pictures needed the clip-on MCA-25 CommuniCam. Sony Ericsson promoted it with a well-known stunt: paid actors posed as tourists and asked passers-by to photograph them with a T68i. It is often called the first Sony Ericsson phone, but that title belongs to the C1002S, sold in Japan from December 2001.
